  • Lateral Placements

PLACEMENT PROCESS

The basic Four Step Strategy Followed for Placements at TECHNO is as following:

Step One:

Skill mapping of every student is carried out.

Step Two:

Depending upon the aptitude and capabilities of the students, different organizations interview them and select for suitable and available profiles.

Step Three:

Specific training programs are organized as per the requirements of the profile for which they are selected. Company professionals are invited regularly throughout the program, for skill development. This is how students become readymade human resource for the company.

Step Four:

Students are sent for ‘Summer Training’ and ‘Internship’ in same sector/company and before they finish their course they are placed in their desired company.

Placement at Techno is a rigorous process that begins with the induction of the student in the college and culminates into a final job offer to the student. Various parameters are laid down for the students to be eligible to participate in placement and they have to formally register themselves for availing the on-campus/off-campus placement opportunities provided by the college. Students who do not register and not found fit on these parameters are not allowed to apply for any placement opportunity offered by the placement cell. The Placement Cell takes care of multiple responsibilities to provide better training and placement opportunities to the students.

Processes

1. Grooming & Etiquette Training

The students are exposed to this training to moderate their behavior to suit the modern society. Such trainings cover the importance of personal grooming, appropriate business dressing & dining etiquettes, verbal and non-verbal communication, telephonic & mailing etiquettes and general professional conduct.

2. Personality Development Program

It all starts with the process of Personality Mapping – I, Me and Myself followed by Regular Personality Development programs conducted for the students to bring a positive change in their attitude, body language and personality.

3. Mock Interviews and Group Discussion

Mock interviews and Group discussions are regularly organized by the panel of Experts to sharpen the communication skills of the students. This helps the students to improve their knowledge in diverse areas and communicate coherently.

4. Summer Training

At the end of the first year, the students of PGDM are required to undergo for the Summer Internship of 8-10 weeks during the months of June and July. The objective of Internship is to give students an opportunity to apply learnt techniques, develop sound decision making abilities and learn about organizational structure and culture.

5.Pre- Placement Talk (PPT)

The Pre-Placement Talk has been the standard practice to facilitate interaction between the industry and the students. The organizations participating in the placement process are requested to make a brief presentation about themselves, the opportunities and prospects ahead for the aspirants along with the detailed job description for the positions they wish to recruit for. In order to facilitate the process of PPT, the college provides the necessary support.

6. Final Placement

The Campus Recruitment Program commences in the month of August and begins with filling up of the Training and Placement Assistance Form. A list of eligible students is taken out by the Placement Cell who are allowed to sit for the final placement process. The students then are geared up to deliver their best. In this regard, the major focus of the Placement Cell is on developing life skills in our students, regular corporate interactions, summer internships and final placements.

One of the major strengths of the institute is the highly innovative and adept teaching faculty which comprises renowned professors with impressive academic, administrative and industrial experience. The faculty members adopt teaching styles that give students a chance to excel in individual as well as team efforts. The pedagogy ranges from analytical methods of solving managerial problems to case study based participatory learning methods.

In this era of globalization with fast disappearing boundaries, it is essential for the managers to have an all around perspective of any situation. TECHNO takes up the onus of acclimatizing the students to the changing contours of today’s business world by promoting productive sharing of intellectual capital and co-designing the future of business education.

Build a Relationship with TECHNO

At TECHNO, we believe in initiating and forging lasting and mutually beneficial relationships with organizations from the corporate world. And we are not talking just placements here. Industry interaction is as integral a part of TECHNO as is academic rigour. TECHNO keeps its students constantly engaged with the industry to help them understand and appreciate the management styles, techniques, and challenges in the real business world. Guest lectures, live projects, workshops, and company presentations are some of the ways in which the industry engages with TECHNO.

A fruitful relationship can be initiated with us in the following ways:

  • Offer a Live Project
  • Conduct a Guest Lecture
  • Invite Students for an Industrial Visit
  • Invite the Placement Committee for a Discussion
  • Conduct a Company Presentation
  • Etc.

HOW TO CREATE VISIBILITY

Student awareness is critical to a successful recruiting effort. This section describes the many ways recruiters adopt to develop their corporate image at the Institute.
A successful recruiting effort is possible only when the students know you better. TECHNO offers you many opportunities to help build a good corporate image among the students. The following are our recommendations for the same.

PRE-PLACEMENT TALKS (PPTS)

The pre-placement talks are presentations organized by the company on the college campus. Over the years, they have become the primary forums for company-student interaction. These talks give the student a chance to learn more about your company, your people and your work culture. The students can also learn about the opportunities for growth, learning and advancement that your company offers. They can also form a first-hand impression of your company and can make an informed decision about applying for the placements. We have over the years found that senior executives are the most effective in delivering the PPTs and also making a strong statement of commitment to recruiting from this institute. The PPTs can take place on any mutually convenient day. If the company wishes to display some promotional material on campus, the final form of the material can be sent to the Placement Office, which will arrange for its display.

DISTRIBUTING THE PUBLISHED MATERIAL

An effective way of creating awareness about your company among the students is to provide them with information. The information could be in the form of annual reports, company brochures, pamphlets, research material and other published information. The placement cell will ensure distribution of such material amongst the students.

Annual reports, company brochures, pamphlets and other published material are an effective medium for purveying information about the company. Any such communication can be addressed to the Placement Cell. The Placement Cell will ensure its distribution to the student community.

CONFERENCES, WORKSHOPS, ACADEMIC FAIRS

Various events, speaker series, panel discussions, conferences, workshops and academic fairs can be organized in which your company may participate directly or contribute through partnerships. Institute scholarships and awards can also be sponsored by your company as a way to express your companies’ commitment to excellence in the student community at TECHNO.

SPONSORING PROJECTS

Projects are an integral part of the academic curriculum at TECHNO. Over the years, many students have taken up live projects with many organizations. This provides the students involved a basic understanding of the company’s operations. It also raises your companies’ profile among students and the faculty.

HOLDING CORPORATE PRESENTATIONS

Over the years, Corporate Presentations have been the standard forum for company-student interaction. They can be held any time between December and February and are scheduled for one hour each. These presentations provide students with an opportunity to learn more about the organization and meet some of the firm’s key employees. You can make a powerful impact by exposing students to the depth of opportunity your company offers.

CONDUCTING CASE CONTESTS

Easily one of the most anticipated events on the academic calendar, case contests are a wonderful opportunity for recruiters to participate in a co-curricular activity based on the central tenet of the pedagogy at the Institute. The company provides a case to participating teams of students. The analysis is evaluated by a panel comprising company executives and faculty from the Institute. The students could also be provided with live case studies. This could be done by conducting Case Contests. A panel comprising company executives with/without TECHNO faculty could evaluate the student presentations.

INTERACTING WITH STUDENT CLUBS

The diversity of interests within the student population at TECHNO finds expression in its many student clubs. These provide opportunities for your company to introduce itself to target student groups. They organize many co-curricular events, such as speaker series, panel discussions, conferences, workshops, academic fairs & cultural events. Your company may either directly participate in these events or contribute through sponsorships.

INSTITUTING AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS

This is a strong way of expressing the company’s commitment to promoting excellence in the student community. Many leading Indian and international firms have followed this approach.

SPONSORING PROJECTS AND STUDIES

Project work comprises an integral part of the academic curriculum. Over the years, our students have taken up live projects with many organizations. By sponsoring a project/study, the company can benefit from the application of a student’s insight and education to the company’s operations.
